Same problem 3 pairs I've bought 3 pair of the 47MWZ jeans because I like the fit of the pants and because they're advertised as lasting 20% longer; however I have also gone through all three pairs of these jeans in under 2 years because of a hole that somehow has appeared in the same spot on all three sets. Guess I won't be purchasing another pair. November 14, 2014
47MWZ for the first time....maybe last. I'm 50 years old and have always worn 13mwz jeans. Just bought two pairs of 47mwz (38x34) for the shorter rise waist. These jeans are way too baggy for me through the thighs and the waist size is a little sloppy, too. My understanding was that the waist rise was changed along with pocket size. The rest of the styling was supposed to be the same as my beloved 13mwz's. Sorry to hear that I'm not the only one having sizing issues with what was such a reliable jean, but I'm a little relieved cuz the scale wasn't supporting the extra room I was experiencing... This product has a great fit and the quality is great. I have purchased this product repeatedly because of the quality and fit. It is my favorite jean. August 14, 2014
Not Bad Not Great I purchased 2 colors. The fit from one color to the next is different. I usually wear 36mwz and thought I would try these, they are now my yard jeans since one pair is too short for stacking and the other pair is too baggy. July 29, 2014
wrangler always very good pants but are trying to make people fit to the most popuar sizes We are very disappointed, have been buying 47MWZPW in a size 44 x36 length. Now we understand wrangler has quit making the 36 inseam. Understand pants companies are not making the different sizes, apparently not the big sellers. Now we have the problem with what use to fit very well to not fitting right. The size of the body of the pants does not fit the same with a shorter seam. I know some will say it does not make a difference, but it does. If the makers of wranglers read this review, please make the 36 inch inseam again, there are people that have worn these pants for over 40 years and have depended on good quality dependable work pants. Great jean I bought these jeans because they are suppose to last 20% longer and they were on sale. Had no idea that they were a different fit. Love them. Have worn 13 MWZ forever. New Deal . . . 47MWZ. Hope they wear longer, but even if they don't, I'm sold. . . awesome fit, awesome feel. I'm sure they'll hold starch and look good on this aging body. May 13, 2014

This jean features a lower waist than the original 13MWZ, which can provide additional comfort.

Answer:
I own these jeans and the waist is in a more natural position. The 936 Slim and 13MWZ jeans that I own have a much higher waist about 1-2 Inches higher. The jeans are cut lower so the rise (crotch to top of the zipper is shorter).

Answer:
All of the 47MWZ styles are pre-washed as part of the manufacturing process. If you are interested in the rigid version of this style (which is not pre-washed and has a stiffer denim), you can find it here: http://www.wrangler.com/store/WRG_S.... As a general rule, while both rigid and pre-washed styles have minimal shrinkage when washed, the rigid will experience more than the pre-washed styles.

I wear a size 34-35x36 but can not wear original 13mwz jeans because they will not fit my over my thighs, and I am not a huge fan of the 31mwz becuse they seem slightly tapered at the bottom, and I prefer the rigid wash so they last longer at work. Are the 47mwz a happy medium, or am I left with the 31mwz?

I prefer that color, but they look quite different in the pictures and the item number suffix is different...
